Biography
Lizhong Ding received the B.E. degree in computer science and technology and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2009 and 2015, respectively. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow of computer science in the Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering Division (CEMSE) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. His research interests include model selection, kernel methods, deep learning and matrix analysis. Specifically, he studies the impact of approximation on learning algorithms, especially discrepancy bounds between approximate and accurate learning; he establishes theories of approximate model selection via randomization for kernel-based learning and deep learning.
